The JDM EJ207 motor is considered by many to be the finest motor ever built buy Subaru. They come in a few verities, referred to by generation (version 7,8,9). I’m not going to get into the details, but each one has benefits and compromises. For my swap, I have chosen the version 8. The highlights of this motor are: forged internals, hypercast pistons, big-port heads, factory stainless steel headers, and a twin scroll turbo. It revs over 8000 RPM, and has variable valve timing to increase torque output. It probably wont make more horsepower than my current WRX (328 awhp), but the overall fun factor will be enhanced greatly.
